When he went to the Cristina Ferreira Show, DJ Magazino was looking for yellow socks. He told the announcer: “Yellow is the color of life.” Yellow socks were the first colorful item she started wearing after losing her mother in a car accident 11 years ago.
Two months after this conversation, Luis Costa will eventually die, a victim of leukemia, a disease I’ve been battling for two years. But on October 15th, the DJ admitted he was happy, and focused on living in the present. He admitted that “the outlook is very bleak.” “When I look to the future, I feel fear.”

The night before, Luis Costa celebrated the launch of his book “Ao Vivo,” an autobiography about his life as a DJ and also about illness. After the party, which entered the middle of the night, he woke up early for another session of treatment in the IPO, and from the hospital he went straight to the TVI studios.
“The body is getting worse, but the head is getting better,” he would say. “Every time I wake up, I wake up happier because I’m starting to live in the present so intensely.”
