EDP focuses on training in renewable energies. The latest project opened last Friday in the US state of Indiana, and is currently the largest wind farm developed by EDP Renováveis.

This wind farm has a capacity of 302 MW and the investment exceeded 422 million dollars (368.7 million euros).

Indiana Crossroads Wind Farm

The Indiana Crossroads Wind Farm, which opened in White County, about an hour's drive from Indianapolis, will have the capacity to produce 302 megawatts of electricity annually, the equivalent of consuming 80,000 local homes according to the company, Lusa reveals.

This is EDP Renováveis' largest project to date, with construction and development work as part of a construction transfer agreement with distributor Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO).

Speaking to Lusa News, Miguel Stiluel de Andrade, CEO of EDP and EDP Renováveis, called the Indiana wind farm a "good example" of the company's investments in the United States, the "largest single market."

By 2025, the company intends to build infrastructure in the US with a capacity of 2 gigawatts per year, with more than 1.5 gigawatts planned for the next year. The partnership between EDP Renováveis and NIPSCO, a leading company in Indiana and Ohio, has already resulted in four renewable energy projects, totaling more than 800 megawatts, for the equivalent of 200,000 homes.

Building wind farms by EDP Renováveis results in “economic benefits” of tens of millions of dollars for the entire state of Indiana, with “job creation,” “payments for landowners and local governments” and more expenses from customers to local businesses, supporting EDP and NIPSCO.
