São Paulo, 25 years old – The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock published Order No. 665 on Official Gazette of the Union (DOU) This Monday (25), the states of Amapa, Amazonas, Bahia, Espírito Santo, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais and Pará have been recognized at the national level as being free of foot-and-mouth disease without vaccination. Piauí, Rio de Janeiro, Roraima, São Paulo, Sergipe, Tocantins and the Federal District. The decree, signed by the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Favaro, regulates the storage, marketing and use of the vaccine against foot-and-mouth disease. – Oral disease and crossing of animals vaccinated against the disease. Currently, in Brazil, only the states of Santa Catarina, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, Acre, Rondonia and parts of Amazonas and Mato Grosso are internationally recognized as a source of foot-and-mouth disease. -An area free of oral diseases without World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) vaccinations. For the states of Bahia, Maranhão, Pará, Piauí, Rio de Janeiro, Roraima, Sergipe and part of the state of Amazonas, the foot-and-mouth disease vaccination phase has been brought forward to April. As for the states where vaccination will not be suspended, in the case of Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Pernambuco and Alagoas, the FMD vaccination phases will continue in 2024 in May and November.
