The Ministry organizes preparatory activities for the Fifth National Conference on Science, Technology and Innovation

The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) on Friday (10) brought together the Ministry’s secretariats and relevant institutions to harmonize the organization of the 5th National Conference on Science, Technology and Innovation (5th CNCTI). The Minister of Technological Development and Innovation, Joila Calheiros, and the President of CNPq, Ricardo Galvão, explained the main points of organizing the event, scheduled to be held on June 4, 5 and 6, 2024.

Under the theme “Science, Technology and Innovation for a Fair and Advanced Brazil”, the conference aims to develop a new national science and technology strategy for the years 2025 to 2035, bringing together the contributions of various actors at the national level. ST&I ecosystem. To this end, thematic meetings and conferences will be held at state, municipal and district levels, as well as free and regional events.

According to Secretary Joila Calheiros, the topics discussed at these events should follow the structural axes of the strategy, which are defined in the MCTI decree and include the restoration of the national science and technology system; and re-industrialization on new foundations; National strategic projects and social development.

We will have a range of state and municipal conferences, thematic meetings and free conferences. He explained that the work of the National Conference is to listen to the grassroots and build the national strategy from the bottom up.

The organization of the event receives logistical support from the Center for Administrative and Strategic Studies (CGEE). Former Minister of Science and Technology, Sergio Rezende, is Executive Secretary, and Professor Anderson Gomes is Deputy Secretary.

The Fifth Conference of CNCTI was held by Decree 11596signed by President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva at an event held at Palacio do Planalto marked by the presentation of medals of the Order of Scientific Merit and the appeal of the National Council of Science and Technology (CCT).
