Science and information will be closer to the students of Conceição do Castile. The City Hall project, called Itinerant Science, will move from a fully customized bus into a lab, with groups for robotics, biology and other fields of knowledge. The bus was introduced on Thursday (16) and is expected to start operating at the start of the 2022 school year.

The municipality had a very complete scientific laboratory. However, we have ten schools. The idea of moving this laboratory to all schools arose in a bus that was fully adapted to receive this laboratory, says Cleomar Marito, Minister of Education of Conceicao de Castelo.

According to him, in addition to travel sciences, students will be in contact with physics, chemistry, mathematics and robotics. “Kids and teens will ride the bus and they will be able to experiment with science. They are groups for robotics and physics. There is a field in biology that will result in very rich knowledge,” he explains.

The project has a partnership with the Federal University of Espirito Santo (Ufes), which will help train monitors to work in the lab. “This project arose out of the city’s initiative to search for an alternative to bring science and experimentation to all schools in the city, especially in the countryside. The idea was to build a bus that had these capabilities. We at Ufes are coordinating a project called Mostra de Ciências. The education department of Conceicao also came to us to ask for help,” explains Gabriel Luchini, professor and coordinator of the Physics course at Jovis.

And the demonstration of the practical side of scientific concepts in the classroom, according to Luchini, affects the absorption of knowledge. When we explain a scientific concept, it has been developing for decades and some of it is of course complex. This student may also have difficulty abstracting and connecting different concepts. Practical experience creates an opportunity to provide incentives for learning. It is a much more efficient process of working on complex concepts, as there are other ways, visual or tangible, for the student to learn about the phenomenon and assimilate the content.
