The owner of Gucci and the owner of Ray-Ban “fight” for the Italian manufacturer

Kering, owner of Gucci, and Essilor Luxottica, owner of Ray-Ban, are among bidders for Italian eyewear maker Marcolin. This information was provided by the Financial Times on Saturday.

Manufacturer Marchon has also shown interest in purchasing the Italian manufacturer.

According to Reuters, Tom Ford's eyewear maker had already begun meeting with potential buyers last February. Marcolin's goal will be a merger or sale, depending on existing licenses.

PAI partner, Private equity Owner Marcolin is looking for a €1.3 billion valuation for the optical company. This value was advanced to “FT” by an unknown source.

In the race for Marcolin will also be Savello, the Italian owner of Carrera and Polaroid Eyeware.

The publication also mentions that the private equity firm appointed Goldman Sachs as an advisor for the sale of the Italian manufacturer, after it acquired it in 2012.
