She started feeling the first symptoms on December 29, was admitted to Santa Casa on December 1 and died on Sunday (02).

The first MS death from H3N2 occurred on 21 December in Campo Grande, a 21-year-old male who was admitted to the CRS (Regional Health Centre) Nova Bahia on 20 December. He was taken to the regional hospital but did not fight back and died.

The second death was of a 76-year-old woman on 28 December in Kurumba. She was accepted into Santa Casa in the city. On the last day 30, the third H3N2 death was confirmed in the state. The victim was a 55-year-old woman, a resident of Dorados, who developed symptoms on December 23, was admitted to the UPA (Emergency Care Unit) on December 27 and died in the UPA red zone on December 28.

In December, Colonel Marcelo Freiha, military advisor to the Health Department of the MS Health Department), said in a video that there was no reason for residents to panic.

“It is necessary to emphasize that there is no reason to panic, because the historical sequence of influenza deaths in MS, recorded since 2009, indicates that cases and deaths are below average,” the colonel said. In 2016, for example, MS recorded 103 deaths. In 2020, there were eight cases.

Vaccination against influenza A and its subtypes is available in health centers and there is no priority group, anyone from the age of six months can be vaccinated.Check vaccination sites here.
