The Spanish group will open a luxury hotel in central Lisbon
Hotel chain Hidden Away Hotels has chosen Portugal for its international debut. Construction is expected to begin this year.
It is the brand's first appearance outside Spain.
Hidden Away Hotels, a Spanish company founded by Carmen Cordon and Ignacio Jimenez, is preparing to begin its international expansion plan. The first investment outside Spain will be made in Portugal.
The group has chosen Lisbon for its international debut and will open a luxury hotel in one of the most exclusive areas of the capital. The hotel unit is located on Avenida Rodriguez Sampaio, near Avenida Marques de Pombal, and represents an investment of 22 million euros.
Aiming to be a reference in the Lisbon market, this boutique hotel has 53 rooms “large in size, by Hidden luxury standards”, eight suites and a royal suite, measuring more than 125 square metres.
The brand is also evaluating the possibility of forming a partnership with an “important Portuguese restaurant group”, given its location. The hotel will also include several event halls, artwork, library, gym, wellness areas, 16 parking spaces and outdoor gardens with a swimming pool.
The interior design will be responsible for Lázaro Rosa-Violán, while Frederico Valsassina will be responsible for the architectural design. Work is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2024, taking approximately 24 months.
“This project in Lisbon represents a great challenge, as it is our first international experience. However, having the support of top professionals like Frederico Valsassina and Lazaro Rosa Violan, together with the Hidden Away Hotels management team, gives us peace of mind that we are certain that we will be able to develop a different and special hotel. Carmen Cordon says, quoted by the “Vida Imobiliária” website.
Hidden Away Hotels currently has five hotel units in its portfolio, including Gran Hotel Inglés, the oldest hotel in Madrid.
