This was stated by Minister Pedro Nono Santos several times, and the company’s management confirmed it this Wednesday. TAP will not return the 3.2 billion euros in government aid lent to the company under a restructuring plan approved by Brussels in 2021.
In response to a question from Dinheiro Vivo about when and how to return the amount ceded by the state, the company’s chief financial officer explained that this scenario is not expected in the model of the restructuring plan signed between TAP and the European Commission.
“Our restructuring plan includes an injection of capital, it’s not debt,” Gonzalo Perez replied during the press conference to present TAP’s quarterly results, this morning.
The official also confirmed that the last government aid will arrive by December, with a check of 990 million euros, as stipulated in the plan and specified in the state budget for 2022.
