After announcing an update with new features for communities on WhatsApp for iOS and Android, the app is now making more changes to this new tab. In a recent WhatsApp beta update for iOS – to 23.7.0.70 – available in the TestFlight app, WABetaInfo found that WhatsApp is improving the readability of conversations in the Community ad group.

The goal of the change is to increase the readability of messages, because in addition to increasing the width of the fonts, the font of the character will also be increased. Also, since Community Ad Groups are the only chats with this kind of interface, it will be easy to distinguish them from other chats.

Despite the odd look, as you can see in the photo on the side, it will take time to get used to the change. The portal says that a similar modified interface is not planned for private and group chats, because they are not read-only chats. This update is also expected to be available soon on WhatsApp beta for Android.

More options for self-destructing messages

We recently released an update for messages that disappear on their own in the WhatsApp desktop app. The update will bring 15 new message invisibility periods, in addition to those already available such as 24 hours, 7 days, and 90 days. WABetaInfo reports that the feature is also in development for the beta version of WhatsApp for iOS, as indicated by update 23.7.0.71.

As you can see in this screenshot, WhatsApp is developing new periods for disappeared messages, available in the future by selecting the “More periods…” row. An upcoming update will provide users with 15 new options when setting disappearing messages, including periods of 1 year, 180 days, 60 days, 30 days, 21 days, 14 days, 6 days, 5 days and 4 days. , 3 days, 2 days, 12 hours, 6 hours, 3 hours, and 1 hour.

This feature will give users more control over their messages, especially for sensitive or confidential information that needs to be kept secure. The hour duration in particular can be useful for corporate messages as it ensures that the message is not stored on the recipient’s device for too long.

Prevent messages from disappearing

WhatsApp is also developing a way to prevent some messages from disappearing, which could come in handy if you’ve sent an important message. According to WABetaInfo, it appears that many users were unable to prevent the messages from disappearing, even though the section was visible in the chat info. Apparently, the issue has been fixed in WhatsApp beta version 23.7.0.72 for iOS.

Thanks to the new update, it is possible to prevent a message from disappearing by selecting the message and pressing “Keep”. Everyone can prevent a message from disappearing, regardless of who sent it. If someone wants to hide a message, they have to choose the ‘do not maintain’ action and the message will disappear. Since people still have control over their disappearing messages, it will not be possible to prevent a message from disappearing if it has already been disabled.

The feature is interesting because there may be situations where people in the conversation might not want a message gone, like for future reference. In these cases, the ability to prevent the message from disappearing provides a sense of control over the connection, allowing everyone to access and review the message at their convenience in the Saved Messages section.
