UEFA confirms the complaints of Portugal and Finland and prepares to punish Georgia and Armenia – Futsal

He questioned the improper use of naturalized players on these two teams

UEFA’s Monitoring, Ethics and Disciplinary Body has responded positively to complaints from the Portuguese and Finnish Football Associations and is preparing to sanction Georgia and Armenia for the illegal use of players after naturalisation. According to the Relivo website, the two teams will be punished with a 5-0 defeat in the matches that will be held next September 20, in the second round of the fifth group of qualifiers for the next World Cup. In practical terms, let’s assume that everything stays the same. The Georgians had already been defeated (2-4) by the Portuguese team, while Armenia lost (2-3) to the Finns.

After these meetings, the Portuguese and Finnish federations coordinated a joint complaint to UEFA regarding the use of national players in both teams. In the two matches of Al-Shaqqa, the Georgian coach used eight Brazilian players holding Georgian passports, and the Armenian helm launched seven Canarians and two Russians.

This is not a new situation in the world of futsal, quite the opposite, but FIFA and UEFA are starting to show a desire to change the model. Recall that in 2004, for example, the Italian team competed in the World Championships with 12 naturalized players and only two outstanding Italians.
