UEFA standings: Portugal win points from Holland

Portugal maintains sixth place in the current UEFA rankings and have taken points from the Netherlands, ardent savants, in the matches played in this round of European competitions.

Sporting failed to score a point after losing to Man City in the Champions League, while Benfica secured a point against Ajax.

In the European League, FC Porto earned four points (two points for a win over Lazio in Dragao, one point for a draw in Italy, and one bonus for qualifying for the Round of 16), and Braga accumulated three points thanks to the victory over Cherif. (After losing away from home) and qualifying for the “eighth” of the competition.

In total, Portugal collected eight points, against five of the Netherlands in this round.

Bonuses from SB Braga and FC Porto give Portugal an advantage over the Netherlands at this point, but there is still the second leg of the Champions League round of 16, with MAN. Benfica, a direct confrontation.

Ajax Benfica will pay bonuses to those who reach the Champions League quarter-finals and eliminate a team from the other country. The impact is significant as points are divided by the number of teams starting the season.

Portugal started the season with six representatives. Two of them have already been eliminated, Santa Clara and Pacos de Ferreira, so the remaining score is divided by six. Meanwhile, the Netherlands started the season with five players and continued with five, one in the Champions League and four in the Conference League.

The Dutch took just five points in this round, compared to eight for Portugal. Three from Eindhoven, who secured a win and a draw in the Conference League, two from Vitesse (defeat and victory in the Conference League) and a point for Ajax for a tie in Luz. Conference does not translate into rewards for teams.
