UFPB participates in the 19th National Week of Science and Technology by Joao Pessoa – UNIVERSIDADE FEDERAL DA PARAÍBA

The Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB) is participating in the 19th National Science and Technology Week in João Pessoa, in the José Lins do Rego Cultural Space. The event continues until today (12) with many activities related to culture, science, technology and innovations, with free entry.

At the opening, which took place on the 9th of the Teatro Paulo Pontes, Big Band Rubacão Jazz, from the UFPB music division, performed, with the participation of singer Tulio Mello.

During the days of the event, visitors were able to learn about, in the pavilions of UFPB Space, the performance of some of the University’s research and extension projects such as: Dissemination of Renewable Energies, FabLab UFPB, Solar School Plant, Mares sem Plástico, Guardians of the Sea, Travesseiro Functional in Posturotherapy and Oxygen Therapy, Electric Formula, Digital Library, PROBEM – Programming and Robotics in High School, João Pessoa Memory: Computing the History of Our Heritage, Grammy River Environmental Assessment, Interactive Archeology, Cycle-Oil, Creative Paraíba, Questioning Chemistry through Experiment, Girls In computing and the environmental cycle – university mobility.

Vice President of the University, Prof. Liana Filgueira, I attended the event on Friday (11) noon. For her, it is important that the activities of the UFPB are accessible to the population and that they are made public at events such as SNCT. “The university is an institution with about 130 majors, very large in the areas of research, technology, innovation and extension. We have seen extension projects exposed today, transferring the knowledge produced within the UFPB to society in general,” he said.

Also part of the SNCT program were workshops implemented by UFPB projects, such as the Video Workshop for Social Networks (LENS), Analog Game Design Workshop: From Concept to Prototype, Joint Gestures Workshop, LabGov Workshops – Public Contract Innovation Lab, Government Go and SBPC to School in Paraíba and Risk Management for SMEs and MEIs. At Espaço Startups, a team from UFPB gave a lecture titled “Young Entrepreneurship: Workshop on How to Plan My First Business”.

The E-Waste Handling Extension Project Team (Tree) in the EcoTech Space shared with the E-Waste Roundtable: The Importance of Environmentally Sound Disposal and Reverse Logistics in Joao Pessoa, moderated by Professor Elisangela Rocha, from the Department of Civil Engineering and Environment; He also held an e-waste art exhibition, as well as the Campeonarte competition.

Until the end of the event on Saturday, visitors can visit the Tree Pavilion, learn about the project and instructions for disposing of electronics, discard used batteries in the project complex or have fun at Tree Games Space, which offers toys made from e-waste. The UFPB Environmental Management Committee was also present at the event at Espaço Ecobanners.

On Friday (11), at Espaço Startups, the UFPB Technology Innovation Agency (INOVA) participated in the exhibition “Prospects of Technological Innovation for Startups, GovLabs of Inova UFPB and Startups of Dare to Create”.

According to INOVA CEO, Prof. Kelly Gomez, UFPB featured in SNCT2022 João Pessoa’s edition, for the diversity and quality of the projects submitted, as well as for the innovative methodology used, where culture, research, extension, teaching, and innovation review in the entire context were valuable. “UFPB broke the record for showcasing actions/projects in this version of SNCT with over 450 square meters of booth space brought in from showcasing Chemistry Experiments, Renewable Energy, Sustainability, Urban Mobility, Robotics, Fablab Gallery and Joao Historic Heritage Preservation Pessoa, a sculpture and painting gallery and workshop, showcased the UFPB Central Library with a donation of books, among many other actions.”

Integrated Arts Festival

Within the 19th National Science and Technology Week (SNCT) program, there is also the Center for Communication, Tourism, and Arts (CCTA/UFPB) Integrated Arts Festival. The event continues until Saturday (12) and deals with public activities, projects, innovative, research and extension activities in the field of social sciences and humanities, and is implemented by the staff and students of undergraduate and graduate courses at the center.

CCTA Integrated Arts Festival promoted video art workshop, mobile digital photography workshop, 3D social sculpture exhibition, extended design workshop, virtual reality cinema, sculpture workshop, thematic seminars, modeling workshop with clay, CCTA 10 years and volumetric photography Workshop.

Late this afternoon, the UFPB Sixth Symphony Orchestra honored attendees with a concert at Praça do Povo do Espaço Cultural, featuring guest musicians Daniel Pena, Tom Drummond and Adeldo Vieira.

Today (12) exhibitions “From Three Dimensions to Social Sculpture” and “CCTA 10 years” are open to the public at Praça do Povo, located on the ground floor. A sculpting workshop, a clay modeling workshop and a volumetric photography workshop will also be held.

The last day of the 19th National Science and Technology Week in Joao Pessoa will feature UFPB projects and actions. In addition to the CCTA Integrated Arts Festival, the TREE project takes Espaço Lúdico to the event, participating in Espaço Eco Tech with the Artree Workshop – Jewelery with E-Waste, and the Echo Tech art exhibition.

The Ecocycle Space – University Mobility is also part of this Saturday’s program. In the UFPB space, visitors will find interactive games, the Electric Formula Project, the Digital Library, the Girls in Computing Project, the João Pessoa Memory Project: Computing the History of Our Heritage, and the Grammy River Environmental Assessment Project; Presentation of biotechnology for fermented food and beverages.
