As of Wednesday, the 14th, 45 essential health units (UBSs) that were already vaccinating against the Coronavirus (Covid-19) began conducting the vaccination only in the morning, from 8 am to 11 am. This measure is due to the need to reorganize the flow of services to units that resulted from the start of the 23rd National Influenza Vaccination Campaign, on Monday. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. UBSs will be disinfected and cleaned, and in the afternoon, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., there will be flu vaccinations and routine vaccinations. On Thursdays, sponsorship is offered at UBSs until 2:00 PM.

This week, the focus of the Covid-19 vaccination is on completing the vaccination schedule for elderly people aged 65 and over and health professionals who have already received vaccinations. The Department of Elderly Health (DSI) and Sport Clube Juiz de Fora continue to prioritize vaccination against covid-19 only. In DSI the service is from 8 am to 4 pm and in sports from 9 am to 4 pm.

On the other hand, influenza vaccination will be conducted at 45 UBSs, in the afternoon, and at the Children’s and Adolescent Women’s Health Department (DSMCA), from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The vaccine provided to the population will be trivalent, meaning that it protects against the three main types of the circulating influenza virus: influenza A (H1N1), influenza A (H3N2) and influenza B. Parents must take a children’s vaccination card for immunization.

The flu vaccination campaign will coincide with the vaccination against Covid-19. Thus, it is important to prioritize giving the Covid-19 vaccine to people included in the priority group for influenza and who have not yet been vaccinated against the coronavirus. In these cases, the flu shot should be scheduled, taking into account the minimum interval of 14 days between vaccinations.

Regarding contraindications, the vaccine is not recommended for children under 6 months of age and people with a history of severe egg allergy. The vaccination will be given in a single dose, and may be obtained with any other vaccine on the vaccination schedule. For those who have contracted the Coronavirus, one must wait 30 days after symptoms appear to receive the flu vaccine.
