Via Verde: The demand to change identifiers is causing a revolution

Via Verde is the electronic toll system used in Portugal and one of the main national inventions. If you pass a toll booth, on Via Verde and a yellow light comes on, something is wrong.

Recently, due to a yellow light when several drivers pass, Via Verde sent hundreds of emails to consumers to exchange identifiers. But in the end what happens?

The complaints portal confirms that 73% of complaints are about identifiers, out of a total of about 500 complaints.
Does Via Verde force drivers to change IDs?
When asked about this, an official source told Via Verde that “there is no intention of the company to change the IDs,” ensuring that “the process of changing the IDs only takes place when there are frequent failures (when the yellow light comes on), either for customers who have their own ID , or for customers with a subscription whose devices are owned by Via Verde.  He adds that this is "a process that has been implemented for many years and aims to protect customers, in order to ensure the security of financial transactions associated with crossings on highways."

But there are several users who have gone so far as to accuse Brisa of attempted fraud, which Via Verde dismisses saying it "categorically rejects any accusation of fraud", ensuring that "it only contacts the customer when there is a yellow light" that appears at the intersection, which indicates a potential problem.” And that the alert aims to “protect customers, bearing in mind that financial transactions are at stake whose security is essential.”
