Vox, in partnership with legendary guitarist Brian May, has released two iconic mini amps that promise to deliver historic Queen tunes in compact amps. New releases announced at NAMM 2023.
The subwoofer’s finish is inspired by the iconic Red Special guitars and Vox’s classic AC30 tune, looking to bring the sounds Brian May delivers in stadium shows to a home practice environment.
The first is the Brian May amPlug, a gadget-style amplifier that simulates AC30 sound in headphones. amPlug has three built-in effects (Brighton Rock delay, phaser and chorus) and programmed beats (backing beats), including beats from We Will Rock You, making it a great choice for percussion practice.

The second is the MV50 Brian May, which is equipped with Nutube technology and has a power of 50 watts. It packs the sound of the original tube subwoofer into an ultra-compact form factor, and features Knight Audio Technologies’ 3D technology for a refined, Brian May-like tone. With connection to external speakers and on-line speaker emulation, the MV50 is an ideal choice for small gigs and studio recording.
Each amplifier can be purchased individually or as part of a package that includes a speaker cabinet, keyring and postcard, all in a red color inspired by Brian May’s signature Red Special.
Prices vary according to model and package, ranging from €59 (about R$325) to €419 (about R$2265 at current prices).
Brian May has stated that he hopes people will be inspired by these amps and have the sounds of a stadium show at home.
