Vulnerable families with support of 30 euros per month until the end of the year – Economy

On Friday, the finance minister announced that the government would provide new support to the most vulnerable families that would be paid “throughout the year on a regular, predictable and stable basis”. The support will amount to 30 euros, plus another 15 euros for each child, and will cover families up to the fourth step of the family allowance.

Fernando Medina was speaking at a press conference called for the announcement of new support for families to mitigate the rising cost of living after price hikes.

The Minister of Labor and Social Security concluded that the new support will cover one million and seventy thousand families. It will be valid throughout the year and will be paid on a quarterly basis – the first installment of 90 € already in April, then in June, August and November, for a total of 370 € per year.

For families with children, the support will be even greater: there will be an “extraordinary supplement for beneficiaries of family benefits up to the fourth step, 15 euros per month per child or young person” which in fact means a total of 180 euros by the end of the year. Ana Mendes Godinho estimates that 1,100,000 families will be covered, with the first payment being made in May, plus the family allowance, and then again in June, August and November.

Noting that this new subsidy “will be paid exclusively through bank transfer, for a couple in a more vulnerable situation, with two children, an additional 720 euros will be paid this year,” said the minister, who called on everyone to update their data. Data bank accounts with escrow Social, so that automatic payment can be processed.

The government estimates that these measures will cost a total of 583 million euros from the state budget.
