Windows 11 gains AI throughout the system and apps with Copilot

Microsoft announced the official launch of Copilot, its next-generation artificial intelligence (AI), on Thursday morning (21). This technology was presented during the opening ceremony announcing the company’s new products and services by CEO Satya Nadella.

Nadella opened the event by talking about recent innovations and how today’s technology has been shaped to support user preferences. Not only that, but how generative AI like Copilot is developed to make human life easier. It talks about business context and personal use.

Copilot will be available starting September 26 on Windows 11. The AI gains a new button on the taskbar, which when tapped opens an interface on the side of the screen. From there, the user can initiate interactions, such as:

  • Search the Internet;

  • Ask for suggestions for writing texts;

  • Ask him to create a playlist on Spotify;

  • Editing photographs, such as removing background from images;

  • Solve mathematical problems.

  • Rewrite emails.

As Microsoft revealed, Copilot will be integrated directly into Windows 11. With this, it will be possible to control the operating system (OS). The user will be able, among other things, to reorganize his desktop with open windows, activate the dark mode of the system interface and more.

According to the company, it will also be possible to transcribe an email and ask the AI to organize the information, translate the text, or even create responses. Another feature highlighted by Microsoft is the ability to use Copilot by voice, which has also become an accessibility feature.

Co-pilot on cell phone and create photos

Microsoft also announced that it will be possible to integrate the cell phone with the Windows 11 operating system, which in itself can already use Copilot. The premise is to find quick and practical information to help the user, such as travel information in messages to create summaries, create itineraries, and more.

In addition, it will be possible to use Copilot with almost all Microsoft applications and services – Microsoft 365, Bing, Edge, Teams, Paint and Photos. For each application, Copilot will have distinct and specific functionality. One of them, as the company highlighted, is to use artificial intelligence as a kind of “shopping assistant” in a browser or on a cell phone.

Another resource that caught my attention during the presentation was, specifically, creating new images using only words. Microsoft announced Integration with Dall-E 3 to Copilot, ensuring more detailed imagesAccording to the company – this includes hands, fingers, shadows, water and more.
