Xbox Series S could limit the industry in creating games

Microsoft has invested heavily in creating the Xbox Series S, its newest console on the market. However, although this model is aimed at those who do not intend to invest directly in Series X, it has its downsides.

Console’s limited resources can be a problem in getting the most out of some games’ features and news, but it’s also a limitation for those who actually develop these titles.

Due to the components used in this console, it only allows content at a maximum resolution of 1440p at 120 fps, while the X Series allows 4K at 60 fps or even 120 fps, depending on the game.

However, this limitation is something that publishers also need to consider. According to Lee Devonald, artist at Rocksteady Studios – best known for the Batman Arkham franchise – console hardware limitations are an important thing to keep in mind and something that limits game development.

BothGames released for Xbox consoles must meet certain criteria in order to be officially released. Microsoft states, among the rules, that titles released on both Xbox Series X and S must be supported.

This means that the same title needs to perform well on both console models in order to be approved, which is why developers choose to use the lowest font model to create their content.

According to the programmer, the industry is limited in releasing games for the Xbox series due to the smaller model, called the “Potato”.

The idea in general makes sense. While PlayStation developers only have one form to guide themselves, which has the same performance both on disc and digital, in the case of Xbox, there are two different versions that have equally different features from each other – and of course, keeping in mind Microsoft’s rules, it’s necessary to be prepared Games for the “lighter” version of the console.
