Xiaomi: everything you need to know about HyperOS

Since 2017, Xiaomi has been working on a new operating system. At the end of October 2023, the brand presented it as the new HyperOS whose mission is to bring together all the brand's devices in the Xiaomi ecosystem.

Throughout this year, the new HyperOS will arrive in all regions of the world, but only on a select group of devices. In this article we explain everything you need to know about HyperOS, including the new features it brings and the devices that will receive it.

What is HyperOS?

HyperOS is a people-centric operating system whose mission is to bring together all the devices of the Chinese brand in the Xiaomi ecosystem. To do this, it takes full advantage of the equipment's hardware resources to provide smooth and efficient performance.

In fact, the new operating system allows more powerful devices to perform faster computing, as well as enabling less powerful devices to perform distributed and elastic computing.

In practical terms for the user, HyperOS has a much lighter file system that allows for consistent performance, but requires a smaller storage capacity. On the other hand, it also improves over-the-air (OTA) updates.

New features of HyperOS

HyperOS brings new UI, performance, and AI-based features.

Let's start with the last. First, it improves interconnectivity through the brand's HyperConnect and HyperMind technologies, by increasing the functionality of smartphones, smartwatches and home equipment built into the Xiaomi ecosystem.

Then it also comes with improved text recognition in images and intelligent image search.

New features in the user interface include fewer pre-installed apps and smoother animations. There are also a greater number of customization options in system settings and individual applications.

HyperOS also has functionality similar to Apple's Dynamic Island for charging smartphones, as well as allowing you to customize the lock screen further.

As for performance, HyperOS uses 30% less space than MIUI, allowing for smoother, smoother and faster performance.
