YouTube is tightening restrictions on adblock users

If you usually use an ad blocker while browsing YouTube, it may stop working in the near future.

According to information from PCGamerYouTube is testing a new strategy aimed at discouraging the use of ad blockers that are already in place in some parts of the world.

In short, if an ad block is detected by the platform, you will have to put YouTube on authorized sites or purchase YouTube Premium.

Reddit user_n_Me posted a screenshot with an ominous warning stating, “Video player will be blocked after three videos”; On the same screen, you can also read that ads help YouTube stay free for all and that you can pay Premium to avoid them.

So, after this warning, you have up to three videos to choose one of these two actions and, accordingly, you will not be able to watch any more videos.

It is not clear how long you will not be able to access the videos, but everything indicates that you will have to disable your ad blocker or subscribe to YouTube Premium if you want to continue watching videos on the platform.

We’ll see if more information about this new YouTube strategy is provided in the future.
