Portuguese cyclist Miguel Oliveira (Aprilia) withdrew today from the Italian Grand Prix (MotoGP) sprint race, the seventh race of the season, after being involved in a collision with Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha).

The Portuguese driver, who started from 11th place on the grid, retired on the second lap, while he was in 16th place.

On the first lap, Miguel Oliveira was touched by Spaniard Alex Marquez (Ducati), losing five places.

The speed race was won by Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), who spent 19,30,251 minutes completing 11 laps.

Spaniard Marc Marquez (Ducati) ranked second, 1.469 seconds behind Alpine, while his Spanish compatriot Pedro Acosta (Jazz Gas) came in third, 4.147 seconds behind.

The accident between Miguel Oliveira and Fabio Quartararo was investigated by the stewards who realized, however, that it was a racing accident.

The race also witnessed a collision with Spaniard Jorge Martin (Ducati), the championship leader and first-place holder with a new record on the Italian circuit, who fell alone five laps before the end, at a time when he was in third place.

With these results, Martin continues to lead the championship with the same 155 points he obtained at the start of this sprint race.

Today's win allowed Bagnaia to regain 12 points, 29 points behind Jorge Martin.

On the other hand, Miguel Oliveira maintains 13th place with 29 points.

The main race of this seventh round of the season will be held on Sunday.
