After weeks of significant growth, Acre appears to be stabilizing in the short- and long-term trends in severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) cases in the past six weeks. The data is included in an InfoGripe leaflet released by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) with information on cases treated between August 6 and 12.

In Acre, according to the study, a large number of new weekly SARS cases are maintained, but with stunted growth. The audience with the highest number of cases is children up to two years of age.

“Data referring to laboratory findings by age group indicate that a decrease or stability of positive cases of SARS-CoV-2 is maintained in all age groups of the adult population. A decrease in SARS cases associated with influenza virus is also observed. Young children, predominance of cases associated with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) remains. In AC and RS, stability remains at a high level,” the report highlights in the weekly report.

Nationwide, there are indications of decline or stabilization in most of the age groups analyzed. The exceptions are children and adolescents between the ages of 2, 4 and 5 to 14, who are showing signs of growth. This scenario is mainly observed in the states of Bahia, Espírito Santo, Paraná and São Paulo.

At least two of the 27 federations show signs of growth in the long-term trend (past 6 weeks) through week 32: Espiritu Santo and Roraima.
