Peru secured their place in the 2022 World Cup South American region play-off, by defeating Paraguay 2-0 tonight (Wednesday morning in Portugal).

That was what was decided in this latest round of South American qualifiers, with Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador and Uruguay already securing the four spots for direct qualification. Peru has already entered fifth place, one point ahead of Colombia and two points on Chile, the remaining candidates take a place in the play-off, which will be played with an Asian team (Australia or the United Arab Emirates).
