The Portuguese stock market emerged positively on Tuesday on a day when its European peers were painted in red. The PSI advanced 1.04% to 6,775.93 points, with 13 rising and two falling, and Ibersol closing unchanged.
The star of the day was BCP, which jumped 4.45% to €0.3969, its highest since July 2, 2016. The gains come a day after KBW revised upward estimates for the bank’s results and improved its price target.
Also on the positive side, Semapa rose 2.91% to €15.58, and Mota-Engil rose 2.27% to €3.692. The construction company is part of a consortium that will compete alone for the high-speed section, and after the end of the session, it announced a €1.1 billion contract in Mexico.
The EDP group, which was heavily sanctioned the previous day, partially recovered: the price of EDP Renováveis rose by 1.19% to 13.57 euros, while the value of the parent company rose by 0.73% and closed at 3.584 euros.
In pulp producers, Navigator rose 0.78% to €3.88, while Altri rose 0.56% to close at €5.40.
Jeronimo Martins and Galp prevented further gains in the national index. The owner of Pingo Doce lost 0.62% to 19.14 euros, while the oil company's shares lost 0.5% to close at 18.98 euros.
