The first calls for an additional dose of the vaccine will be sent out later this week and then in successive phases.

The Department of Health said today in a statement that an additional injection of a messenger RNA vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) for those who have previously taken the Janssen vaccine will be given “at least four weeks after” such injections.

Remember that the Johnson & Johnson vaccine against covid-19 is the only vaccine given only once, with no second dose needed, as in other vaccines (from Pfizer and Moderna to AstraZeneca).

The offer of PCR tests for those without full vaccines to those taking the first dose has been extended until November 1, the government amended on Monday.

However, the Council of Ministers, at the October 15 meeting, decided to follow up on the recommendation of the Supreme Council for Infectious Diseases, which was revealed the day before, for an additional injection of RNA vaccine for cases who received the Janssen dose.

The first calls for an additional dose of the vaccine will be sent out later this week and then in successive phases.

People who meet the criteria for a booster dose – ie who have taken Janssen for at least four weeks, “will receive a letter from the Luxembourg government, inviting them to make an appointment with their doctor or at a vaccination center (registration via myguichet .lu) using a code provided to them”, The statement explains.

The list of doctors participating in this vaccination campaign is available at www.impfen.lu. In addition, medical assistance is available through the hotline set up for this purpose, at (+352) 247-65533.
