Efacec can be in the hands of the Portuguese, after the withdrawal of foreign companies – industry

Elsewedy Electric Corporation, China’s Chint Group Corporation and Spain’s Iberdrola will already be out of the race to reactivate Efacec. Echo digital newspaper, this Monday morning. According to the information obtained, the Portuguese companies DST and Sing – Investimentos Globais, the holding of the industrial company Sodecia, are still interested in the reactivation process.

It is also indicated that companies must submit binding proposals by July 19.

The process of reactivating Efacec began in December of last year. The amounts involved in the proposals are unknown, but the Minister of Economy, Pedro Sisa Vieira, has already stated that the state does not intend to lose in the process. The Minister believes that Efacec will be able to repay the 60 million euro loan. In April, Siza Vieira stated that there were ten candidates interested in Efacec.

The revitalization of Efacec follows the departure of Isabel dos Santos from the capital of Efacec, following the Luanda Leaks case. In January last year, the International Consortium of Investigative Journalism (ICIJ) disclosed more than 715,000 files detailing the alleged financial plans of Isabel dos Santos and her husband, Sindica Dokolo. An investigation by the consortium indicated that the couple allegedly took money from the Angolan public treasury to tax havens.

Angolan businesswoman Isabel dos Santos announced in January last year that she intends to withdraw from the Efacec capital permanently.
