The controversial confrontation between FC Porto and Arauca was already covered in a lot of ink after the final whistle, which was blown by referee Miguel Nogueira. On Sunday evening, the Porto players announced their decision to protest the match, calling for the match to be canceled due to “misconduct by the arbitration body.” In a note sent to PÚBLICO, the Portuguese Football Federation’s arbitration board confirmed that it would analyze the “defective audio and video communications” from a technical point of view and announce the results publicly.

In the protest presented to the delegates of the League, the “Dragon” raised the performance of referee Miguel Nogueira at the moment when, without access to the display images, he reversed a penalty kick in favor of FC Porto that had been indicated moments before. The outage prompted the referee to reach out to his colleague in Football City via a phone call, an extraordinary moment that already travels the world.

The Porto players wrote: “Miguel Nogueira’s behavior constitutes a violation of the rules of the game and a legal error with a potentially serious impact on the outcome of the match.” in the current situation.

According to A Bola, the problem with connecting to VAR technology was due to the battery being discharged. Etihad’s contracting operator did not connect the equipment to the mains, opting instead to use a battery.

Around the same time, Benfica also released a statement about the match between FC Porto and Arauca. In turn, the “Eagles” protested the 17 minutes of compensation allocated by Miguel Nogueira, calling for “equal standards for all.”

“It is very urgent to improve standards and ensure transparency. It is essential that the reasons for the passage of 17 minutes of stoppage time in the FC Porto-Arouca match are presented in a clear and objective manner. The match continues until the 22 minutes of extra time after that.” 90!”, you can Read slowly.

Benfica is also questioning the fact that Sport TV did not dispel the doubts about Evanelson’s position in Porto’s equalizer, which he scored in the 90+19 minute.
