– His innocence: – Killed Tinder’s date after the shockwaves came out

Last spring, Isimemen David Etute, 19, of Blacksburg, Virginia tapped into dating app Tinder and matched him with the profile of 21-year-old “Angie Renee.”

In April 2021, they agreed to meet and Etute went to the woman’s apartment with Da’Shawn Elder – a fellow Virginia Tech football teammate.

When they arrived at Angie’s house, the apartment got dark and the 21-year-old tried to hide her face. Elder later stated that he perceived the whole thing as strange. So the two friends ended up leaving the apartment, he writes ESPN.

Oral sex

Shortly thereafter, Etute returned on his own and the meeting ended with “Angie” performing oral sex on him. The 18-year-old is also said to have received a $50 gift from the woman.

When he left the apartment he was sure it was a lady with whom he had an intimate relationship. He believed this until his colleagues started joking that “Ange Rene” could be a man.

The following month, another teammate named Galen Hampton got a match with the same woman. He went to meet her, but stated that he felt uncomfortable and chose to go home again.

will face

Etute and Hampton, along with a third teammate, decided on May 31, 2021 to visit Angie. They wanted to know if she was actually who she was pretending to be.

Only Etute entered the apartment.

Etute explained that the house was dark and he had to use the flashlight on his mobile phone to find out.

40-year-old Jerry Smith was discovered lying in bed.

Etute explained in his interrogation that Smith had grabbed his genitals before he had had time to confront him. Etute must have hit the man in the face.

He then allegedly thought Smith had reached for a weapon under the bed, which led to him hitting Smith with a clenched fist over and over again,” writes ESPN.

On June 1, Etute was arrested for police questioning and later charged with premeditated murder. Teen defender Jamie Turk claimed that the agent acted in self-defence.

No firearms were found in Smith’s apartment, but police reported a knife was found between the mattress and the springs.

Etute was released on bail on June 9 and placed under house arrest, as well as a prosecutor around the ankle, until trial this year.

acquitted

During the trial that began last week, Ettout explained that he felt “a violent outburst” when he found out that “Ange Rene” was actually a 40-year-old man.

Furthermore, the 19-year-old said he hit Smith five times and stomped on him in the face to start his way out of the apartment. According to him, the man was still alive when he left the bedroom.

Prosecutor Patrick Jensen, who works for the prosecution, argued against Etute acting in self-defense. He claimed that Smith, after falling to the ground, was in no way able to reach a potential weapon.

– Jensen said during the trial that he could not have access to a gun from this position.

After the three-day trial, the jury spent three hours acquitting 19-year-old Isimemen Etute on Friday, May 27.

Just seconds after the acquittal was read, the Smith family left the courtroom.

Defender Jimmy Turk, who has 36 years in the profession, told the press that Ettout’s acquittal was his proudest moment to date in his career.

– I was not shocked, because that was the only correct decision by the jury. But one always worried about whether he had managed to convince a dozen people. She is constantly breaking nerves. “I am grateful to the jury that did the only thing right,” Turk told the newspaper. Roanoke Times.
