aAfter an investigation, the Dutch regulator concluded that the multinational technology in North America does not meet the requirements of the country, for not adapting the general terms and conditions of the App Store (a virtual store where you can get applications to install on devices), to the minimum payment systems set by the Consumer and Markets Authority.
“Apple should amend the terms of access to the Dutch App Store for dating app providers, which should be able to use other payment systems in addition to Apple’s own payment system,” the official was quoted as saying by EFE.
App providers should have the option to refer their users to out-of-app payment options, however, for now, it is only possible to show “interest” using other payment systems.
If you do not comply with the requirements of the Dutch authority, Apple risks paying a weekly fine of the same amount imposed on it today, with a maximum of 50 million euros.
To use the App Store, app providers pay $99 (about 87 euros) a year, about 85% of them, including major companies like Amazon, Booking or Uber, only pay this fee.
If a service provider wants to offer payments or subscriptions within its app, Apple sets additional terms, which apply to 15% of its users.
The regulator denounced in December in a notice to Apple.
