Police chief is being investigated for fatal extortion

On Wednesday, a number of media outlets wrote about a video allegedly showing an attempted extortion resulting in death, perpetrated by a police chief at a police station in Thailand’s Nakhon Sawan province.

The video is available in at least two versions of different lengths, taken from two different camera angles.

As the man groans and eventually becomes completely silent, men in civilian clothes and costumes enter and exit the room. Some eventually embark on a short-lived resuscitation attempt – apparently unsuccessful.

According to Thailand’s National Police Chief Swat Gangyudsuk, there are good reasons to believe that media reports about an attempted extortion led to the death.
