Sesa flyer presents first case of dengue in CM; The region accumulates 26 confirmations

The Dengue Epidemic Bulletin of the State Department of Health (CISA) confirmed the first case of the disease in the city of Campo Murao in the current monsoon period, which begins in August. According to the data, the number of municipal notifications reached 111. Comcam has accumulated 26 positive diagnoses for the virus in this period.

With the onset of the summer season, Wednesday, which witnesses an increase in rainfall and heat, the Ministry of Health recommends that residents double their care against disease, and eliminate the breeding sites of mosquitoes that carry the Aedes aegypti mosquito. Engenheiro Beltrão is the city with the most confirmations (8). The other cases were recorded in Barbosa Ferraz (2); Campo Morao (1); Phoenix (3); Joywire (3); Janiopolis (1); Moreira Sales (5) and Quinta do Sol (3).

The bulletin also revealed 205 possible cases of dengue fever. Since the beginning of the current epidemic period, municipalities have developed several mosquito control measures. In addition to daily visits to homes for endemic disease agents, it has implemented trawling in places with higher infection rates, environmental walks to eliminate breeding sites, and outreach measures, among others.

Sesa reports that Paraná has already recorded three deaths from the disease in the current epidemic period – none in the Comcam region. Total confirmed cases of dengue 2,002; 6,024 are under investigation and 28,279 are notified.

Of the 348 municipalities with notifications, 191 are confirmed cases and 167 are originally registered, when dengue is contracted in the municipality of residence. “Everyone should follow the procedures already known, such as removing standing water and disposing of waste properly. In addition, both health professionals and the population should be aware of symptoms of illness, such as: fever with body aches, headache, pain in the back of the eye , among other symptoms, as the Secretariat warns.

The Aedes aegypti mosquito is also responsible, in addition to dengue fever, for Zika and Chikungunya. During this period, there were no records of Zika cases and two imported cases of chikungunya fever were confirmed. This was the last bulletin on dengue released this year. It will be published again by Sesa’s Environmental Surveillance in the first week of January 2023.
