Ukrainian intelligence reported on Friday that a powerful explosion occurred on Thursday in a former prison now used as a place to hold Ukrainian prisoners of war.
According to the information, the building was destroyed. It was said that more than 40 prisoners of war were killed. It is said that many prisoners of war were among the last survivors of the Azovstal steel mills.
‘Putin’s chef was behind it’
Olenivka is located in Donetsk in eastern Ukraine. Russia claims that the camp was hit by Ukrainian missiles, while Ukraine has a completely different version and claims that the destruction corresponds to an arson or an explosion inside.
Ukrainian intelligence also claims that the Wagner mercenary group, under the personal command of their leader Yevgeny Prigozhin, an oligarch known as Putin’s chef, is behind it.

Russia claims that the attack must have been carried out with Ukrainian Hemars artillery. Pictures of what are supposed to be the ruins of the prison were shown on Russian television.
47 prisoners of war were killed and 130 wounded, claimed Denis Pushlin, leader of the separatist Donetsk Republic.
Pushlin also claims that the rocket artillery attack on the prison is because Ukrainian POWs began speaking out against their forces, and that the goal was to make the surrender of Ukrainian soldiers less attractive.
The Russian Defense Ministry claimed 40 dead and 75 wounded, and the Donetsk Armed Forces claimed 52 dead.
