Orkun Kökçü became it The most expensive signing in the history of Benfica But there are many voices that have already come to the terreiro to agree to bet on the Eagles. The midfielder, from Feyenoord, has conquered the Netherlands, but also in the hosts of the Turkish national team, which he represents, his pride in the journey the player has made is emphasized. That is why Kenan Kocak, assistant to the Turkish national team, began, in statements to Record, to congratulate the Eagles on this signing.

“First of all, I would like to congratulate Benfica on this transfer. Orkun Koksu is a very intelligent player who will be an asset to any team in the world. He is very technical and has a great sense of space. He is very good at passing and strong in duels. It was no coincidence that he was Captain of Feyenoord,” recalls assistant Stefan Kuntz, who noted the importance of the player for the Turks: “For our team, he is indispensable. In terms of personality, he is a great boy. I like him.”

Kuczak points to the 22-year-old midfielder’s excellent journey in the Netherlands, so it’s no surprise that he has had offers from other leagues such as the Premier League. However, unlike Wim Kieft, he is aware of the choice to incarnate. “Benfica’s traditions, Benfica’s history, conversations with the club’s leaders and, of course, Roger Schmidt, were undoubtedly the reasons that prompted him to move to Portugal,” he points out to our newspaper, afterward devaluing the transfer fee, which could reach 30 million euros: “I think she’ll be more valuable after working with Roger Schmidt. She’s a coxo. And she’s worth every euro.”

Despite the praise for the Eagles’ strengthening, the Turkey assistant refuses to compare the player with Enzo Fernandes, who left the Eagles for Chelsea in January: “It’s hard to make comparisons. I’m sure Kokcu will become a better player under Roger Schmidt’s guidance.”

Always chosen by Roger Schmidt to replace Enzo Fernandes, Coxo was a goal achieved on Saturday, when Benfica officially announced the signing of the player who will be protected with a €150m release clause. At the moment, the Eagles pay 25 million euros for the player, but Feyenoord can get another five million euros for the goals. In addition, he keeps a percentage of the capital gains from the future sale of the midfielder who will now represent the Turkish national team, before starting pre-season work with the Reds.
