Ahmed Toure laments on poor salaries in the Ghana Premier League
GPL needs to sit up and fix any loopholes in the association because the payment the give is not motivating enough, says Ahmed Toure.
Former Bechem United forward, Ahmed Simba Toure says the difference in terms of salaries paid to players in the GPL compared to players of Ivorian League is chicken change.
“When I played for Kotoko, my salary was GHS1, 500 but I was playing for the club and even at Bechem I was paid the same amount but at Asec Mimosas, I take GHS12, 000 every month,” Ahmed told Angel FM.
According to him, the winning bonus they receive after games is even bigger than the salaries of the Ghana Premier League players.
The former goal poacher of Kotoko added that the lowest side in the Ivorian league like King Faisal in Ghana is able pays more than GHS 2,000 T 3,000 as monthly salary which is good.
“To be honest with you, our winning bonus is between GHS2, 000 to GHS 3,000 in the Champions League but it is not good to say everything on air because you need to sacrifice in football to get a better salary somewhere” he added.
He added that he has sacrificed a lot to reach where he is now as he believes when a player performs well he is entitled to a good pay.
Ahmed Toure then goes beyond all the reasonable doubts to commend the Ghana Premier League, stressing that the GPL has caused more good than harm in his career.
Ahmed Toure has said if a club in Ghana pays him GHS1,500 he is ready to come back to Ghana.
