In Destiny 2: The Final Form, the Guardians will face destruction in the form of their greatest foe, Witness, along with their iconic companions from Vanguard: Ikora Rey, Commander Zavala and Cayde-6, whose return is shrouded in mystery. The Highlights event also saw the announcement of Episodes, Bungie’s new approach to seasonal content, that will showcase the results of The Final Form and pave the way for more stories and content in Destiny 2. The first episode, Echoes, will debut shortly after the launch of Destiny 2: The Final Form in March 2024.

Another highlight is Season of Witchcraft, which is coming to the game on Tuesday. In Season of Wizardry, the Guardians will turn to their old ally, Iris Morn, to work together to harness the Hive’s mystical magic and track the traces left by the Witness after entering the Traveler.

In addition to a new campaign, an all-new destiny, and a cast of iconic characters banding together to take on the threat posed by the Witness, The Final Form expansion will provide players with new offensive abilities in the form of three new super abilities and Aspects (Void for Titans, Solar for Warlocks, and Arc for Hunters ), all geared towards cooperative play.

Additionally, new additions to the Destiny 2 arsenal will make players even more powerful, such as a new weapon sub-class that includes the rocket-propelled grenade and a new machine gun with a support frame for dealing damage while healing allies. New additions also include the return of classic Destiny 1 weapons, a new Exotic Fusion Rifle, and more.

What comes after the final form?

At its Highlights event, Bungie detailed the format of Destiny 2’s new episodic content, which will debut in March 2024, shortly after the release of The Final Form.

Episodes, which replace the current Seasons model, will represent an entirely new approach to the game’s narrative and content. There will be three individual episodes in 2024 – Echoes, Revenant, and Heresy, respectively – with the first episode set to premiere in March.

Each episode will be a standalone story with three chapters, exploring the aftermath and consequences of the events at the conclusion of the Light and Darkness Saga, and featuring more content and rewards more often than in Destiny 2 Seasons.

The new season of Destiny 2, Season of Witchcraft, begins today. In Season of Wizardry, the Guardians will continue their pursuit of the Witness, encountering allies and former enemies along the way. Savathûn’s ghost, Immaru, proposes a deal, asking for help to revive the Witch Queen and defeat her sister Xivu Arath.

In exchange, Savathûn will reveal to the traveler the key to the gate the stele passed through upon its entry, as it prepares to obtain the final form. The Guardians will use the Hive’s mystical magic to help their ally, Eris Morn, prepare for her confrontation with the Goddess of War by becoming the Hive Goddess.

A key part of Season of Witchcraft is the Deck of Whispers, a new progression method that allows Guardians to customize their gear and power-ups in new ways. By completing seasonal activities, players will earn cards that can be used to build a custom deck containing rewards and perks for specific activities. Teams will have the option to strategize in depth when choosing which cards to bring into the activity in order to increase their effectiveness in battle.

Season of Witchcraft will also include a reboot of the raid from Destiny’s Past: Crota’s End. Originally released shortly after the release of Destiny 1 in 2014, Crota’s End Guardians raid takes to brave the lunar landscape and enter the Hellmouth to confront the Son of Oryx once and for all.

Crota’s End will debut on September 1st, and Bungie will celebrate the world’s first title race that will honor and reward the first fireteam to successfully complete a repeat raid. Teams around the world will have 48 hours to complete the skirmish raid. Completing Crota’s End challenge mode will award victory in Ultimate Swordsmanship. The first squadron to complete all encounters, unlock the last chest, and return to orbit upon completion of Challenge Mode will be declared the World’s First Winner and their victory will be immortalized in the form of Crota’s End raid belts. Magic season begins today and runs through November 28th.
