The statements of Ruben Amorim, coach of Sporting, after the 5-0 victory over Marítimo, for the League Cup, which sealed the presence of the Lions in the quarter-finals of the competition. The coach talked about Paulinho (author of the “hat-trick”), Mateus Fernandez (debut) and Giovanni Cabral.
Paulinho
Paulinho was growing in the quality of his game. Of course, the goals are additional, they give confidence to the attackers, but he is in a good moment and he must maintain this level throughout the year.
Jovan
“Govan didn’t leave because he was playing badly, he was playing well but he has a time limit and we have to take care of that.” He added in the press room: «He’s growing in his position and his understanding of the game, he’s getting better. The talent is there, try to keep it healthy. »
Matthew Fernandez
“He played an excellent game but found it difficult at the end. The pace is completely different and we have to take that into account, but the quality is there.” And in the press room he came back to the topic: passing him on goal is the least important thing. We all know he can do that. I want to see how he copes with playing in space, in midfield with Two, he has grown physically, technically and tactically and I have to appreciate the work done with him in the B team by Filipe Çelikkaya ».
