A renowned lawyer and a member of the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen has expressed dissatisfaction at the way the murder case of late Abuakwa north Member of Parliament(MP), Joseph Boakye Danquah Adu is being handled.

He has also alleged he is of the view the murder trial delay can be an action of people who might be masterminding the fast trial of the case.

The main suspect in ther case, Daniel Asiedu told the court on Wednesday that he was contracted by some persons in the NPP to kill the late Abuakwa North legislator threatening to name persons who supposedly hired him.

Responding to the suspect’s claim, Lawyer Obiri Boahen was however of the view the confession of the suspect should not be taken seriously considering his earlier revelations which seems to have different meanings.

According to him, the suspect had earlier mentioned names of some persons believed to be behind the murder of the former MP hence the need to do away with the allegations he made in court.

He was not happy at the way the police and the NPP government are handling the case as it seems to be delaying.

“I wrote a letter to the Mental and Dental Council informing them of the actions of the medical doctor but i am yet to receive a response from them which is very bad on their part” he lamented.

He added: “We need to be serious and not waste our time on such baseless allegations, he should mention the name of the persons he claims contracted him to commit the murder.

This guy has not been consistent. Initially, when he was caught he told the police that he knew nothing about the crime, later he said it was the NDC who contracted him and now he’s saying it’s the NPP. Can you take such a person seriously?

Meanwhile, Spokesperson for the late MP, kwaku Solomon has also chanced his disappointment in the NPP government and the police for failing to show passion in investigating the case as the family is still worried at the way the matter is being handled.

He explained the court should have allowed the suspect to go ahead and mention the names of the alleged NPP members who hired him to commit the offence fearing the suspect could rescind his decision at the next court sitting.

However, Lawyer Yaw Obuor, counsel for Daniel Asiedu one of the suspects standing trial in the murder of the former MP for Abuakwa North Constituency, Joseph Boakye Danquah Adu, has said the suspect is a minor and is mentally unstable.

Daniel Asiedu and one other person Vincent Bosso, have been charged with murder and abetment for the murder of the late MP.

Asiedu had earlier said that he went to the MP’s house to steal but ended up killing him in self-defense.

He, however, withdrew these claims and stated that he had gone with the intention of killing the legislator.

The late J.B Danquah-Adu was stabbed to death on February 9, 2016, at his Shiashie residence in Accra.

Daniel Asiedu, who was the prime suspect, was arrested two days after the incident.

One other person was also arrested later in connection with the killing.

The murder of the former MP shocked many, and led to discussions concerning the security of legislators.
